My optimized home setup 2018
Since last year, I have been working a lot more from home, so it justified upgrading some things.
Desk
SKARSTA IKEA standing desk
Still happy with this cheap manual standing desk.
Seat
DX Racer seat
This seat is still holding itself, could not find any reason to change it yet.
Computer
iMac 27” Retina 5K Display
Display resolution is everything to me and, I wanted to have the same OS at home and on my laptop.
I used to have a Mac mini which would have been fine for my needs, but it hasn’t been upgraded for a while.
So I did not have much choice.
Monitors
LG 27UD88-W
I first bought this monitor to use with my laptop.
I was looking for a display with a single USB-C port to connect and charge my Macbook.
It doubles as a USB hub which makes it a kind of docking station.
The default stand is excellent, tall enough that you can rotate it vertically.
Ergotron LX
Still love those arms, they are even strong enough to hold the iMac.
Keyboard
Ultimate Hacking Keyboard
My UHK finally arrived this week!
I am still getting used to it, and I will write a thorough review later.
Mouse
Apple Magic Trackpad 2
I was already using this with my laptop, and I never use a mouse on Mac OS.
The gestures and precision of their trackpad are just too good to pass on.
Webcam
Logitech C922 pro
Working from home, I am doing many video calls, and the iMac camera/microphone are not that great.
I really like the wide angle when I am doing online meetings with multiple people with me.
Headphones
Bose QuietComfort 35 II
THE reference in noise canceling headphones.
One of the most significant features is that it can pair simultaneously with 2 devices, so I connect it to my phone and computer, and it switches seamlessly when I get a call.
